What’s new in All in One SEO Pack 3.2?

Our latest 3.2 release brings new functionality to All in One SEO Pack that you have all been waiting for: Schema.org markup! In addition to structured data, this update also introduces two other new features and numerous improvements & bug fixes. Find out more below.

Schema.org markup

The most prominent feature of this update is the Schema.org markup functionality that we are bringing to the plugin. Many of you have been eagerly awaiting this, so we are pleased to announce that it is finally here.

Schema.org markup is of code that is found in the HEAD of your source code to help search engines determine what your content is about and provide more informative results to their users. If you have ever used rich snippets, then you will understand what structured data is all about.

We won’t dive into the details in this post as Schema.org markup is quite a large addition, but if you are curious and would like to find out more about the new settings and features we have added, then we recommend that you read our dedicated Schema.org markup post.

New features

<lastmod> field for taxonomies & archive pages

Google has stated that the <lastmod> sitemap field is an important indicator for them and that it might speed up indexing of your website. That’s why we are happy to announce that Categories, Tags, custom taxonomies and archive pages (including the static Posts page) now reflect their “Last Change” in the sitemap.

The timestamp for these archives is based on the last modified post that is assigned to them and we support taxonomies with multiple attached post types.

New title macros

Due to popular demand, All in One SEO Pack now also supports both the %current_month% and %current_month_i18n% macros for certain title format fields. These macros can be used to include the current month (either in English or localized) in the title.

Other improvements & bug fixes

This release also includes numerous improvements and bug fixes. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Refactored preview snippet title and robots meta tag code that introduces significant improvements and resolves a number of bugs
  • Updated inline tooltip help
  • Minified CSS files
  • Improved internal coding standards

In total, a number of 61 issues made it into this release. Read the full changelog.

  1. I met a question, but I haven’t found the answer. Can you help me to answer it?

Through your plug-in, you have solved most of the TKD problems in SEO, but the problem is:

    1. The title of the content page can only get the name of the current category through the category label, but not the name of the parent category.

    2. The current classification page (sub-classification) can not get the name of the parent classification by the classification target tag. (If I force the site label to be the name of the parent category, and then call the parent category, the parent category title will appear duplicate parent class names.)

I use JS to dynamically forcibly modify the article pages and classified pages (parent and child classifications, if judgment processing, seems to meet my requirements, but only dynamically revised, when looking at the source code on the page, their title is still the previous text content. So, or not, in this case, the search engine will only grab the original title content.)

Can your SEO plug-in improve this aspect? When the content page and the classification page call the classification name, they automatically determine whether the current classification contains a superior, and if so, they call the name of the parent classification at the same time. Or label these fields with callable parent class names.

    1. While customizations like that are possible, there’s no UI for them.
You’ll need to write the code to get the title you want from the parent category, and then apply them to the title using our API filter hook, aioseop_title.

  2. I’m absolutely loving the new update for Schema.org markup. I have been applying other accounts as well, not just specifically social and seeing some nice results being recorded in Google Console (under external links).
    🙂

  3. All-in-One SEO was the first plugin I used for my blog in 2009. I used it for many years and was satisfied. Then I put Yoast and everything went into gutter. I tried many other plugins, including paid ones, and none helped me. Now, after AiO SEO 3.2 release, I think I must used it again because of the maturity it has gain (not the maturity of just increasing version numbers and destroying the established sites like, you know, a famous plugin does). I hope to gain my Google SEO back.

    1. I can’t speak for other plugins, but if you deactivate or uninstall All in One SEO Pack, the SEO data itself will be preserved, but all the functionality (ie presenting the SEO data to Google) won’t happen until you reactivate the plugin.
Why would you want to uninstall it?

  4. Hi

I just want to say that I have been using your plugin since 2007

Thank you for all of the awesome work, from my family to yours

    Joseph

  5. I have trying Yoast and AIOSEO for months. Trying to weigh down how they rank my site to google searches. I have to say AIOSEO is better than Yoast. Great product!
