How to Verify Your Site with Yandex Webmaster Tools

What is Yandex Webmaster Tools?

Yandex is a popular search engine in Russia and its Webmaster Tools is a free site where you can see how your content is listed in their search results.

You don’t have to use Yandex Webmaster Tools to be listed in search results, but it really helps you see problems before they impact your ranking.

Adding your Site to Yandex Webmaster Tools

To get started, you’ll need to sign into Yandex Webmaster Tools.

If you don’t have an account, you can either register for one, or you can use your Facebook, Google or Twitter account to log in.

Once you’ve logged in, you’ll see a My sites page. Click on the Add site button.

Enter the full URL for your site in the box and click the Add button.

Verifying Ownership of Your Site

Next, you’ll see a screen that says Verify rights to, and you’ll see some code here. Select the code with your mouse, right click on the selected text and choose Copy.

Open a new browser window and log into your WordPress site. Click on General Settings in the All in One SEO menu and then click on the Webmaster Tools tab.

Now click on the Yandex Webmaster Tools block and paste the code you copied into the Yandex Verification Code field and click Save Changes.

Now all that’s left is to go back to Yandex Webmaster Tools in your other browser window and click the Check button.

First, navigate to Yandex Webmaster Tools and register or log into your existing account.

Once you're logged in, you should see a "+" button in the navigation bar at the top of the screen. Click the button and then enter the domain name of your website.

In order to authenticate your website via All in One SEO Pack, you need to select the "Meta tag" tab and then copy the unique 16 character code that's between quotes (see screenshot below). Don't copy the entire tag and don't copy the double quotes either.

If you scroll down a bit, you'll see a section called "Webmaster Verification". Paste the unique code you've just copied into the "Yandex Webmaster Tools" field and make sure to update your settings.

Yandex will crawl your website to confirm that you own the website. This verification process should take less than a minute.

Once your website is verified in Yandex Webmaster Tools, you should take some time to browse through the different menus and see which features Yandex has to offer. You should at least submit the All in One SEO Pack sitemap under "Indexing > Sitemap files" so that Yandex is aware of all your website's URLs.
