Boost Your SEO with Our New Dashboard Widgets and Strip Category Base Feature

Staying on top of your SEO game can be challenging, especially as your site grows.

With so many pages and categories to keep optimized, you may find it daunting to know where to start.

We decided to make SEO easier for you with our 4.2.0 update.

Let’s dive right into what’s new, shall we?

New Dashboard Widgets

One of the new features you can look forward to in this new update is the addition of 2 dashboard widgets to help you optimize your site.

First, the AIOSEO Overview widget shows you the SEO scores of your posts at a glance. This helps you know which posts have the potential to perform better.

The AIOSEO Overview widget shows you, at a glance, how ell optimized your posts are.

The widget rates the posts according to Needs Improvement, Okay, and Good. It also shows you posts without a focus keyphrase. Clicking on each category will open up a window with all the posts in that class. This will help you systematically work on your SEO by first improving the posts that need improvement the most.

One of the most significant advantages of this widget is that it saves you time and effort in looking for posts that aren’t adequately optimized. Consider it a mini audit tool that shows you an overview of your posts and how SEO-friendly they are.

For example, let’s say you’re conducting a content audit and want to know which posts to prioritize when updating your content. This AIOSEO Overview widget will help you quickly do that.

You can also use the widget to identify and optimize blog posts without a focus keyphrase. Doing so will help those posts rank better in search.

Another dashboard widget we’ve added helps users complete their SEO setup if they haven’t yet.

The set up wizard helps you configure your website for SEO.

We’ve added the SEO Setup widget to help you finalize your site’s SEO configuration with just a few clicks. Simply click on the Improve SEO Rankings button, and you’ll go through the AIOSEO setup process, so you can easily:

  • Select a category that best describes your website
  • Set homepage metadata (title and meta description)
  • Add site information such as whether the site represents a person or organization
  • Set up your social media profiles and social share image
  • Activate the SEO features you need
  • Optimize your search appearance or the way your site is displayed on search engine results pages (SERPs)
  • Import data from an SEO plugin you’re migrating from

The SEO Setup widget makes it super easy for you to properly configure your site’s SEO settings – without hiring an SEO expert.

Once the setup is complete, search engines can better understand what your site is about, leading to more accurate indexing. As a result, the chances of your content being served for relevant search queries improves.

Streamline Your URLs with the Strip Category Base Feature

Need to create SEO-friendly URLs?

One of our latest features will help you do just that. A much-requested feature by many of our users, we’ve finally added a function to enable you to streamline your URLs by removing the category base prefix.

Our new Strip Category Base feature enables you to create shorter, cleaner, and easier-to-remember URLs. It also results in URLs that are easier to crawl for search engines.

For example, you can transform “https://aioseo.com/category/best-wordpress-plugins/” to “https://aioseo.com/best-wordpress-plugins/”.

You can find the Strip Categories Base feature by going to your AIOSEO menu and selecting Search Appearance option » Taxonomies:

To get started with the strip category base feature, head over to the taxonomies section under the search appearance menu.

Under the Taxonomies section, click the Advanced tab under the Categories section. Doing so will open a menu where you can choose to keep the category base prefix or remove it.

Toggle the button to Yes to remove the category base prefix from your URL.

Selecting Yes will remove the category base prefix. Once you’re done, don’t forget to save your changes.

Stripping the category base prefix is useful when you want to:

  • Create shorter URLs
  • Publish hub pages that require the use of the keyword as the page slug

Both are critical in helping boost your page’s SEO.

That’s it for now. We’re continuously working on a lot more features to make AIOSEO the best SEO plugin on the market. So, make sure to keep an eye out for more announcements.

For more information, you can read our strip category base feature documentation.

  2. In future updates, can you set the dashboard widget to remember your last setting instead of the default “Post”? I wish mine to always be set to “pages” but it keeps going back to “Posts”. Thanks in advance

This is great. Just what I was looking for because I am new to this platform.
