Using the Keyword Rank Tracker feature in Search Statistics

The Search Statistics feature in All in One SEO enables you to see detailed statistics about how your content is performing in Google search results.

One feature included within Search Statistics is the Keyword Rank Tracker.

Previously, you could see how your website was performing for certain keywords, such as your top keywords and the losing keywords that weren't benefiting your pages.

The Keyword Rank Tracker now lets you keep a closer eye on your keyword performance, giving you detailed reports on how your keywords rank and compare to other keywords and keyphrases used in different parts of your content.

Here we'll provide an introduction to the features in the Keyword Rank Tracker.

Accessing the Keyword Rank Tracker

To view the Keyword Rank Tracker reports, click on Search Statistics in the All in One SEO menu.

Once there, click on the Keyword Rank Tracker tab at the top of the screen.

Using the Rank Tracker for Individual Keywords

The Rank Tracker section gives you an overview of the keywords currently used inside your site.

You can start measuring their performance by clicking on the Add Keywords button on the right.

You'll now see the prompt to add your keywords.

Adding Keywords to the Rank Tracker

You can either add your keywords manually, or import them via your site's Focus Keywords or a CSV file.

Adding Keywords manually

For example, in the image above, we added three keywords manually. Each line should contain one keyword. A keyword can consist of multiple words, just like search terms contain multiple words.

You'll also see how many total keywords you've added in Keyword Rank Tracker, under the Keywords Entered caption.

In this case, we have 9 keywords because there are three that we're adding now, and six that were entered previously.

Importing Keywords via Focus Keywords

If you click on the Focus Keywords button, you'll get a list of your top-scoring keywords.

Use checkboxes to the left of each keyword to select them, and click the Import button to import them.

Click on Add Keywords when you're ready to add them to your report.

Importing Keywords via a CSV file

You can also upload keywords in bulk via the CSV button. Simply select it and upload a CSV file that contains the keywords you want to track.

We also provide a sample file you can download.

Understanding the Rank Tracker reports

Once you've finished adding your keywords, you'll start seeing your reports getting generated.

At the top of the Rank Tracker screen, you'll see four values, which are Total Keywords, Search Impressions, Clicks, and Avg. CTR.

  • Total Keywords: The total of keywords you've added to the Rank Tracker. This counts both manual additions and imports.
  • Search Impressions: The total number of impressions your tracked keywords have aggregated in search results within the selected timeframe.
  • Clicks: The total number of clicks your tracked keywords have aggregated from search results within the selected timeframe.
  • Avg. CTR: The average click-through rate of your tracked keywords in search results within the selected timeframe.

The Rank Tracker graphs show you the distribution of your keywords in terms of their position in Google Search Results.

Once you scroll down, you'll see the individual statistics for each one of the keywords you've added. You can click on each column to arrange them in ascending or descending order.

Using the Rank Tracker for Groups of Keywords

You can also check your statistics for groups of keywords. This is particularly useful if your site touches upon different topics and you want to see how the keywords of each topic ranks among each other in one category.

Creating a Group

You can create a Group of keywords by going to the Groups tab, and clicking on the Create Group button.

There, you'll get a screen to add a name for the Group, and select the keywords that you want to include in the Group from a dropdown menu.

Once you click on Create Group, you'll get the aggregated statistics for the keywords included in that Group.

Adding Keywords to an Existing Group

You can add keywords to an existing Group by going back to your list, checking the boxes of the keywords you want to add, and click on Add to Group.

Click on Apply, and you'll get a prompt to select the Group you want to add them to.

You'll have the option to select a Group you've already created from a dropdown menu, or create a new group from scratch with the keywords you have selected.

Creating a Star Group (Favorite Keywords)

You can also click the Star icon to the left of your existing keywords to automatically create a “Star” group that'll contain all your favorite or noteworthy keywords.

Your Star Group will look like this:

Viewing Keywords included in a Group

If you click on a Group name, you'll see the individual keywords added in that Group, along with its individual performance.

Understanding the Group reports

You'll then see aggregated reports and graphs of the keywords included in the Groups you've created.

  • Total Groups: The total number of groups of keywords that are being tracked for your website.
  • Total Keywords: The total number of keywords assigned to your groups.
  • Search Impressions: The total number of impressions the keywords from your groups have aggregated in search results within the selected timeframe.
  • Clicks: The total number of clicks the keywords from your groups have aggregated from search results within the selected timeframe.
  • Avg. CTR: The average click-through rate for the keywords from your groups in search results within the selected timeframe.

Viewing the reports for All Keywords

The All Keywords screen is where our Keyword Positions reports appear.

This graph is a visual representation of how well keywords are ranking in search results over time, based on their position and average CTR.

This can help you understand the performance of keywords and identify any trends or fluctuations.

  • Total Keywords: The total number of keywords that your website ranks for in search results within the selected timeframe.
  • Search Impressions: The total number of times your website appeared in search results within the selected timeframe.
  • Avg. Position: The average position of your content in search results within the selected timeframe.

Keyword Performance Section

This table displays the performance of keywords that your site ranks for all time, including impressions, click-through rate, and average position in search results.

It allows an easy analysis of how keywords are performing and identification of any underperforming keywords that may need to be optimized or replaced.

The table is paginated, and you can click on the Top Losing or Top Winning tabs to see only that content.

You can click on the keyword to view the content for that keyword with itemized statistics as seen below.
