Are you losing traffic due to broken links? Do you know if you have any broken links?
Surprisingly, most links on the web are broken. There’s even a name for it: link rot.
So, why does it matter?
Broken links make it hard for users to find what they’re looking for. That drives visitors away. And when you lose visitors, you lose conversions and sales.
A broken link can also make a page invisible to search engines. That means zero traffic.
But who has time to check every web page and link on a website? Ideally, site owners should check for broken links regularly. But that makes the task even more time-consuming.
That’s why we decided to create a fast solution that even a beginner can use.

Find and Fix Broken Links, Easily
We’re excited to announce our brand new, standalone Broken Link Checker plugin.
- This plugin scans all the links on your site.
- Then it lists all broken links and provides an easy way to fix them.
You don’t even need to open any web pages.
Just click Edit URL to replace a broken link – right inside the plugin.
You can also edit the anchor text at the same time.
Semi-Weekly Scans
The Broken Link Checker plugin automatically scans your site every 3 days. So there’s no need to worry about missing broken links in the future.
Additional Features
- You can opt to view Broken links, Redirects, or All links on your site.
- Click Unlink to remove a link.
- Click Recheck to re-scan a link.
Webmasters and SEO professionals will appreciate the scrollable Status Details window that displays response headers and other information for each link.
Control Which Types of Pages are Scanned
Our advanced settings give you full control over which pages get scanned.
Include or exclude:
- Specific, named posts
- Scheduled posts
- Drafts or published posts
- Private posts.
Scanning – the Right Way
As mentioned, we scan external links (links from your website to others) as well as internal links (links from one page on your site to another page on your site).
To protect your site, we pay for an external server to do this scanning (also called “pinging”). That means any external links you have on your site are pinged by us from our private web server.
Avoid Being Blacklisted
Most of our competitors don’t use an external server. They do their pinging directly from their clients’ sites. That puts those sites at risk of being blacklisted.
The blacklisting occurs because when a website is used to ping external sites repeatedly, that behavior looks suspicious to internet service providers.

Doesn’t login to existing account
Hi – Please reach out to our Support team. Thank you! https://aioseo.com/contact/
Hi,
Once I installed the plugin, and connect to my account, I am offered to choose a licence but no licence shows up… I am lost 🙁
Hi – On “Choose a license for your site” do you see an option to “Connect”? If so click on that. If you’re not seeing “Connect,” please contact our support team. They’re happy to help.
Do I have to pay for this
Hi – You can use the free version of Broken Link Checker if you like. The paid versions include checks for external links (outbound links from your website to other sites). Does that help?
Hello, i don’t understand setup process it is said that there is a free version, but it seems that i still need to enter a credit card, is that the way it works?
Hey Remo, our free plan includes a quota of 200 links per month.
We require you to enter a payment method when you purchase a free plan because we will automatically upgrade your plan if you run out of quota, That way, our service to you does not get interrupted. Obviously this is refundable.
When I tried to connect it to my existing account – I can’t. When I tried to set it up as a new account – it asks for my credit card. There is no mention of pricing anywhere that I can find.
Hi Deb: I recommend reaching out to Support – they are happy to assist. https://aioseo.com/contact/ Thank you!
The same problem I am being asked for a license and the connect button is grayed out. I also had to create a new account.
Hi Terry – Thanks for your note. Our support team is working on this. Can you reach out to them, please? They are more than happy to assist. Thank you! https://aioseo.com/contact/
Not working, will not connect to my current account unless I link a credit card or PayPal option. However, it doesn’t specify pricing.
A little misleading, I must say, which is disappointing coming from AIOSEO.
Will try again later to see if the issue has been addressed.
Thank you.
Hey Luis, thank you for your feedback.
If you do not have any Broken Link Checker licenses in your account yet, then we will automatically redirect you to our trial checkout page and add a free plan to your cart for purchase.
At the top of the page you should see the product and it’s price ($0.00). This free plan offers a quota of 200 links.
If you’d like to upgrade to a higher plan to unlock extra quota and support for external links, then you can do so directly inside the plugin.
You can also find our plans and pricing here.
After installing I had to buy a licence for $0.00 to enable it but I can find nothing about it anywhere.
Link to the doc from the plugin gives “Doc Category: Broken Link Checker
Sorry, we couldn’t find what you were looking for or the page no longer exists.”
Deinstalling.
Hey Rob, thank you for your feedback.
Can you share some more details with me as to what you mean with “you can’t find anything about it anywhere”. What exactly were you looking for?
Unfortunately it looks like we’ve forgotten to publish our documentation for Broken Link Checker, so I’m following up on this and will make sure that we do so ASAP.
The link to our documentation will start working as soon as the documentation is published. Our apologies for the inconvenience.
